Memory: The Art & Science of Remembering was produced and developed by the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The exhibition’s tour was managed by the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

The traveling version of Memory: The Art & Science of Remembering debuted at the Maryland Science Center in October, 1989. In celebration, the Science Center held a very successful Memory Weekend between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Special events

included talks on the subject of memory given by researchers from local universities and impromptu musical performances given by roving musicians.

Steve Himmelrich, Director of Marketing at the Science Center said: "[Memory Weekend]...was some of the best programming we ever had."

During its 41 month tour, the exhibition was seen by over 577,000 visitors at the following institutions:
